You & Your Bike:

What hobbies or interests, other than riding? Boating, water sports, hunting, kayaking, mountain biking, snow
skiing, the outdoors in general, and weight lifting
What's your worst/best memory of high school and why? Best...being part of the wrestling team taught me
discipline.
Worst...being part of the cross country team. I hated running. However, the wrestling coach was also cross country
coach and he thought it would keep us in shape.
What was your favorite pet you had as a child and why? Our dog Miss Priss. She was the best dog ever.
What is the most rewarding experience you have had and what made it so? For about 14 years, I've donated
platelets at the Red Cross just about every other week. Cancer patients need platelets after treatments. My father is a
cancer survivor, so I figure it's the least I can do because I am lucky to still have my father.
What is the best thing that has ever happened to you? So far it's all been pretty good. Nothing stands out
because again, it's all been pretty good.
What is the most embarrassing moment of your life? I'm sure there has been plenty, but the one that comes to
mind is... I told one of my best buds I was in Salem but he stopped by my house to drop something off caught me in my
garage washing the bike
If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would it be? I would like to get a RV and drive to every state
in the US. Why go any where else. And the bike would be on a trailer!
If you had the chance to go back in time for 24 hours, where and when would you go? The wild west.
Something about those times seems so simple and worry-free
If you knew today was your last day on Earth, how would you spend it? With my family re-living good times
Who or what inspires you and why? My father!!! He is the best man I know.
If you had one word to describe yourself, what would it be? Intense. My wife likes to say I'm anal. My word
sounds better.

Now you know a little about Grasshopper....Awesome!
You & SCRC:

How did you hear about Southern Cruisers? Ray Martin, our current Second Officer, and Ralph Fitzgerald
When did you join SCRC? 2004
Why did you join SCRC? The people in the club, and group riding.
What have you found to be the most rewarding as an SCRC member? Raising money for St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital and monthly bingo for the vets at the VAMC in Salem
Have you ridden with an organized group before? No.
How did you earn your road name? I work with lawns and it seemed people were always asking me about
there lwans and what to do. One night someone ask me something and Im pretty sure Donna “Pookie” said
aaahhh Grasshopper. And it just stuck.
What advice would you give to a new rider or someone contemplating becoming a rider? I've always
felt at home on a bike and riding seemed to come natural. When learning it should feel natural. If not, ride and
practice until it does. If you ever feel like something is not right it may be time to stop take a break. Try not to
force it and never ride outside your comfort zone.
